Devi

Devi is the embodiment of the creative, dynamic, ecstatic, bountiful and nurturing energy coursing through each of us and all of life. It is the ancient Yogic term for the divine feminine which knows no boundaries, no human limitations or identifications and is available for all to freely access and experience.

Devi comes in many forms and Bhoomi Devi can be understood as a form of Mother Earth.

This sound offering is a work of Tamil poet Mahakavi Subramanya Bharathiyar, musically adapted by Sounds of Isha. It likens the whirl and movement of all life to the exuberant dance of Shakti (another name of Devi).

“The lap where life flourishes is Shakti
The strength which guards the earth is Shakti
The flame which stops one from falling is Shakti (inner strength)
The tapas* that eliminates confusion is Shakti”

*literally means heat in Sanskrit, understood as purification from devotion/practice/dedication
