Coreopsis tinctoria
Wildflower native to most of North America. Compact plants with wispy stems reaching two to three feet tall and bursting with waves of two-tone flowers all season long all the way until frost. Sunny yellow petals with deep maroon and red centers. Some flowers are all red. This is a really lovely mix of genetics and will always fill you with surprises! Use flowers to create a beautiful palette of yellow, soft pink, coral, orange and deep rusty brown for your fiber dying projects! Also makes sweet fresh cut bouquets with a delicate citrus scent. We found a light trellis will help keep flowers upright later in the season if heavy rains are on the horizon. Sow densely for a nice thick patch!
Sowing and Growing Information Coming Soon!
Germination of these seeds are light dependent (photoblastic). When sowing, gently press down the soil to create a shallow indent, sprinkle seeds and lightly cover with soil. Do not bury too deep and be sure to keep the surface of your trays moist as you await your seeds to germinate. When watering, use the mist setting on a sprayer hose to gently moisten without too much pressure. Using a spray bottle with water is also a good idea. Heavy water pressure may push the surface sown seeds out of the trays!
